Direct return flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kunming; travel within Yunnan is by road, with a one-way sightseeing train experience on day five.
PLACES THAT STAY WITH YOU
Snowmelt spreads blue-green tones across pale limestone beds, reflecting forest and mountain peaks. The appeal lies in the valley’s extraordinary clarity and layered colour.
Curved white walls and stepped terraces frame Erhai’s open water. Refreshments and a one-way buggy ride leave time to enjoy the setting beyond the camera.
The Jinsha River thunders between towering mountain walls. The sound and sheer scale are best felt in person, with return escalators included for the scenic visit.
Gilded roofs, white walls and layered courtyards follow the hillside, giving Shangri-La its distinctive Tibetan architectural silhouette. Explore respectfully and keep a quiet pace.
A one-way scenic rail ride turns the mountain foothills into a moving window view. This is a sightseeing train, not intercity high-speed rail, and it does not replace the mountain cableway.
Lake breezes, live singing and Bai dance make Erhai more than a photo backdrop. Sky Mirror and jeep photography create keepsakes of the lakeside experience.
PACK FOR THE CONTRAST
Sunny daytime hours can give way to chilly mornings and evenings. Yunnan’s weather changes with elevation: several layers offer more flexibility than one heavy garment.
Choose comfortable long sleeves and a removable jacket. Add a warm layer for lakeside breezes, mornings and evenings.
Bring a thick jacket, windproof layer, scarf, gloves and comfortable grippy shoes. Conditions in Kunming do not represent the highlands.
Pack sunglasses, lip balm, sun protection, a water bottle and an easy-to-reach warm layer. Keep your day bag light.

Lijiang Eternal Love is an optional show at RMB300 per person; the Dali Ancient City buggy is RMB35 per person. Dinners on days 2, 5 and 7, photo-session clothing and makeup, Naxi costume hairstyling/makeup and personal purchases are excluded.
Yes: one Lijiang Snow Mountain sightseeing train ride and the return grand cableway to Glacier Park are included. If the grand cableway is suspended, we will arrange the return Yunshanping ropeway and boardwalk shuttle instead.
Seven nights: two in Kunming at different hotels on the first and final nights, one each in Dali, Shangri-La and Chuxiong, and two consecutive nights in Lijiang. If a hotel changes, we will arrange the same class and notify you.
Pack in layers: lighter clothes for daytime, warm layers for mornings and evenings, plus a thick jacket, windproof layer, scarf and gloves for Shangri-La and the mountain. Kunming’s weather does not represent the highlands; we will flag the week’s conditions before departure.
